To visit the vineyard in Aythaya
|
If you plan a visit to Myanmar, there is a high probability that
you will see one of the country’s most attractive destinations:
the Inle Lake. It is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters and
surrounded by the famous “Blue Mountains of the Shan Plateau.”
That is where the Vineyard is located: at the edges of the small
town of Aythaya, only 40 minutes by car away from the Lake. When
you want to visit Khaku, the spiritual centre of the Pa-O people
(see also the map), whether you come from Heho airport or from
Inle Lake, you pass Aythaya 5 Km before Taunggyi. The the
vineyard is on your right side.

Of course wine,
good Western-style
wine! You can find a description of all of our AYTHAYA
wines on the ‘Product’ link. You will recognize your
well known Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc
and Chenin Blanc. |
|
|
Then there is our excellent Winegarden Restaurant with
specialties from the region but also some good European food and
the right wine to accompany a meal.
An informative wine-tasting is obviously part of your visit as
well as a tour through the vineyard, both conducted by
professionals in their field. The proverbial “Sunset at the
Vineyard” has become an institution for all travelers who want
to find out more about the first and only Myanmar Wine.
If you want to spend a day or two as our
“Guests in the
Vineyard”, you are welcome in one of our apartments
which will be available in 2008.
A beautiful landscape on the Western slope of Taunggyi which a
European visitor likened as “This is like Italy, this is
like
Tuscany”, and right he is.
March & April is Harvest Time This is the time to learn
how wine is made and how the famous young, sparkling and still
fermenting wine is tasting. During the Water Festival in April
(11th – 20th) we are organizing, together with the Hotels in the
Inle Lake region, a Wine Fest at the vineyard and at some
selected Hotels. You can find more about it when you click ‘
WINE FESTS in APRIL’. |

The easiest is to ask a taxi driver at Heho airport or in Nyaung
Shwe at the Northern edge of the Lake; they all know Aythaya and
its famous vineyard. A return trip by taxi is very affordable.
If you want to combine the visit of the vineyard with another
attractive destination, contact a travel office in Nyaungshwe or
ask your Hotel to organize a trip to Khaku and ‘Sunset Dinner’
at the vineyard in Aythaya.
Here are some travel offices which will provide a taxi and a
guided tour :. |
